Architectural concept

The villa is located on the island of Hvar, 70 meters away from the sea. The basic guideline for its design was to create a summer home for the family, where life would slow down and time would pass more slowly. The design concept followed this idea by creating stone facade slats that symbolically represent strength and security. The design approach is modern, but not trendy. The use of indigenous stone, executed by hand in the “drywall” technique, enhances the simple orthogonal design. An interesting feature is the discovery of calcite mineral in the basement level, which was used to create a fountain by the pool and inserted into the facade. When placing the villa in its location, the configuration of the terrain, the sides of the world, and the position of neighboring houses were taken into account. The villa is placed in such a way that it is slightly more closed on the south and west sides, while the north and east facades of the villa are open and varied, allowing for optimal sun exposure and opening up the most beautiful views of the surrounding area. The longitudinal floor plan is simple and readable. It consists of three separate residential units with dynamic exterior terraces that surround the villa and pool. The design of the pool follows the shape of the villa and ends with an intimate terrace pavilion and fountain.

Interior Concept

The primary guiding principle in interior design was the life dynamics of its users. Spaces are connected by a design theme of calm transition from one area to another, using natural Mediterranean materials such as stone, wood, and metal. A refined color palette allows highlights in the space, such as a fireplace or art pieces, to stand out.
